1️⃣ Entry – Currency Exchange – Getting a SIM Card
We arrived at Jomo Kenyatta Airport in Nairobi, Kenya, at night.
After the entry check and stamping of documents (they didn’t check the yellow booklet), we first exchanged currency, then went to get a Safaricom SIM card (homework said this one has better signal).
We chose a plan with 10GB of data, calls, and texts for 1300 Kenyan Shillings (Ksh). We calculated that paying in US dollars was more cost-effective, so we ended up paying $10.

2️⃣ Bolt Ride to Accommodation
We registered for the Bolt ride-hailing app using the new Safaricom SIM card.
It seems there was a discount for the first ride; the 25-minute trip to the city showed an original price of 750 Ksh, but with the discount, it was 380 Ksh.
Many people mentioned that Bolt drivers often don’t give change, but we were lucky and had a good driver who gave us change after the ride.

3️⃣ Mini Bus from Nairobi to Kimana
P12 is where you catch the minibus. The fare to Kimana is 800 Ksh per person, and luggage is not charged extra.
The bus needs to be full with 10 people before it departs. We waited almost an hour before it left, and the journey from Nairobi to Kimana takes about 4 hours.

4️⃣ Accommodation in Kimana
Upon arriving in Kimana, we first went to the Digital Lounge recommended by XSH.
They informed us that they did not have any twin rooms, and the environment and lighting were not good.
We switched to Jordan Guest House, which I would recommend as it was quite decent.

5️⃣ Finding a Car for Amboseli Safari
Initially, we wanted to find a sedan-type car to drive around the park’s perimeter.
However, after asking around for a while, none of the options seemed reliable, and it didn’t sound like they knew how to spot animals.
Later, while wandering, we met a motorcycle guy.

He quoted 1500 Ksh, and we negotiated down to 1200 Ksh for a morning safari outside Amboseli (we heard someone got it for 1000 Ksh, so you can try to negotiate further).
After agreeing on the time and price, we added each other on WhatsApp for easier communication.

6️⃣ Wild and Adventurous Safari in Amboseli
The motorcycle guy came to pick us up early at 6 AM with two of his friends.
Remember to bring a hat and a face mask (or a scarf) to avoid dust, and sunglasses are also useful.
The guys had great eyesight and led us to see giraffes, zebras, monkeys, elephants, wild chickens, gazelles, ostriches, and wild boars (one was hit by a car).

We didn’t see large herds of elephants, and the guy said it might be because of the heavy rain the day before.
Overall, it was very cost-effective.

❗️❗️❗️ In the first picture, we encountered a Maasai who claimed he was taking care of the elephants. His ultimate goal was to ask for money. Don’t pay attention to him and just walk away; he was very aggressive!
