Discover Singita Mara River: Ultimate Safari Experience for Wildlife Lovers
Every year from July to September, the breathtaking Great Migration unfolds along the Mara River. I had the incredible fortune to stay at Singita’s exclusive riverside camp and witness this natural spectacle twice in early September, from the 2nd to the 4th. One of those times, the migration happened right in front of my tent.

I was lying down, resting, when suddenly a herd of wildebeests and zebras began their perilous river crossing. Afterward, seeing these majestic creatures grazing near my tent was an enchantingly magical experience! It’s even possible to watch the Great Migration while soaking in a relaxing bath!

My guide, @Johnson Paul, is incredibly experienced and showed me eight crossings over three days, with three of them being massive, involving tens of thousands of wildebeests and zebras. This is not a common sight! The wildebeests frantically tried to evade the lurking crocodiles, but some still fell victim to these predators.

Witnessing this firsthand was truly heart-stopping. I also saw zebras making the crossing, which was both thrilling and adorable. Experiencing the Great Migration is definitely a must for your bucket list 😊

I had heard from others that even after spending several days in the northern Serengeti, they didn’t see a single crossing or had to wait for hours to catch a glimpse. However, I believe this has a lot to do with the guide’s expertise. Almost every day, I didn’t have to wait at all; as soon as we arrived, we could immediately see a large crossing, and then move on to the next one. A skilled guide is absolutely crucial, as it directly impacts the quality of your safari experience 🦓🌊
