Ultimate 8 Days 7 Nights Norway Self-Drive Adventure: Costs & Itinerary Revealed
Got off the Arctic cruise, picked up the car at Oslo Airport, and started the self-driving trip.

📍General route:
Oslo ➡️ Stavanger ➡️ Bergen ➡️ Lærdal Town ➡️ Årdal Town ➡️ Strind Town ➡️ Vinstre Town ➡️ Oslo

The overall trip includes Norway’s three major cities, four major fjords, three famous rocks, and multiple scenic roads. The specific route is in the previous post on Xiaohongshu.

[Golden Sweet Potato R] We are a team of two girls, splitting the costs of self-driving and accommodation. Including food, drinks, and entertainment (excluding shopping), it cost 22,000 RMB per person.

🍗 Food: 5850 RMB per person
We maintained a level of dining that was neither extravagant nor stingy. We ate local specialty fish soup, pizza, burgers, Thai food, sushi, and also shopped at supermarkets for bread and instant noodles.

Eating and drinking in Northern Europe is indeed not cheap. The cheapest McDonald’s meal set is 100 kr, street stalls average 150 kr per person, pizza and burgers range from 200-300 kr per person, and Oslo’s fisk fish soup is slightly more expensive, around 400-500 kr per person.

I also drink alcohol, often buying beer at supermarkets. In addition, I went to bars and craft beer shops. Altogether, my personal spending on food and drinks was 8700 kr, approximately 5850 RMB. Without alcohol, it would be about 15% less.

🏠 Accommodation: 3630 RMB per person
For safety, we did not choose hostels, but stayed in hotels, homestays, lakeside campsites, and traditional wooden houses, all of which were clean and tidy.

Seven nights of self-driving, plus two days before and after the trip, nine nights for two people cost 10800 kr, about 7260 RMB, or 3630 RMB per person.
Parking in Norway is quite expensive, so it’s recommended to choose accommodations with their own parking lots. For self-driving, you can opt for more unique accommodations. The scenery at RV campsites is very nice, homestays in town centers are convenient for strolling, and traditional wooden houses offer sauna experiences.
🚗 Travel: 5362 RMB per person
We rented a Toyota Yaris from the Sixt official website, with full insurance, picking up and returning at Oslo Airport (returning in a different location is more expensive). For seven full days, it cost 10610 kr, about 7140 RMB.
Most of our chosen accommodations had their own parking, so parking fees were not high, totaling 420 kr, about 282 RMB.
Japanese cars are relatively fuel-efficient. We refueled four times over eight days, costing a total of 1700 kr, about 1150 RMB.
Toll fees + ferry fees totaled 3200 kr, about 2152 RMB.
Combined rental, parking, fuel, and toll fees for two people amounted to 10724 RMB, or 5362 RMB per person.
🎟️ Tickets: 475 RMB per person
Natural attractions in Norway generally do not require tickets; just pay for parking when driving. Other attraction tickets (Munch Museum, Urnes Stave Church, troll car at Briksdalsbreen Glacier) totaled 705 kr, about 475 RMB.
✈️ Round-trip airfare: 6,400 RMB per person
Enjoy a seamless journey from Beijing to Oslo and back with our round-trip airfare, priced at 6,400 RMB per person. Please note that this fare does not include any additional personal excess baggage fees, which are 1,200 RMB.
