Discover Da Nang: A Backpacker’s Guide to City Walks and My Khe Beach Adventures

The cost of living in Da Nang, Vietnam, is very low, and compared to Hanoi, it’s much more affordable. It’s definitely a great place for a laid-back vacation. Sun, beach, and clear blue sea… it can fulfill all your imaginations for a holiday. Unfortunately, it was rainy and overcast during my stay, and I didn’t get to see the sun, which greatly reduced the scenic experience.

However, it didn’t affect much; finding a café ☕, having a cup of coffee, eating a dessert 🍮, and staring out the window at the rain 🌧️ was also very nice.

On the third day, I went to the ancient town of Hoi An, which is not far from Da Nang and can be visited as a day trip.

🔶Attraction Introduction
✔️Dragon Bridge, on Friday to Sunday nights at 9 PM, there is a fire-breathing performance from the dragon head.
✔️Museum of Cham Sculpture, known as a gem of Da Nang, this museum is a must-visit. There is a separate note on my homepage introducing this museum.

✔️Han (CHO HAN) Market, a famous local market for small goods. The first floor sells various snacks, and the second floor has many tailor shops where you can customize Ao Dai. This market is almost occupied by Koreans, and personally, I don’t like it much; it feels a bit like the “Yiwu Small Market” in China.

✔️Da Nang Cathedral, a popular pink church in Da Nang, the only church left from the French colonial period, fully pink Gothic style. It was not open when I visited.
✔️Semicircle Bridge, next to the Dragon Bridge, it is an observation deck by the Han River.
✔️Son Tra Night Market, a very popular night market locally.

✔️My Khe Beach, one of the six most beautiful beaches in the world, 10 kilometers long, with complete facilities for dining, entertainment, and leisure. The sand is very fine and soft.
✔️Linh Ung Pagoda on Son Tra Peninsula, a natural scenic area of Da Nang that can be seen from My Khe Beach. There are many lesser-known beaches and the famous InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, and the highest Guanyin statue in Vietnam is also on the island.

✔️Hoi An Ancient Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the 50 places to visit according to National Geographic. It used to be an important port and a trade hub in the Indochinese Peninsula, leaving behind many significant historical buildings.

1. There are many Koreans in Da Nang, and it feels surrounded by Koreans.
