Discover Malacca: Explore Historical Sites & Cultural Wonders in Malaysia
Hi, I’m Mack. My mission is to dive deep into the culture and history of two countries each year. This time, I’m immersing myself in 🇲🇾 Malaysia for a full two months.

Malacca
This historic city, often mentioned in geography and history books, has now come to life for me. Just a two-hour drive from Kuala Lumpur, Malacca offers a treasure trove of attractions. I explored the Malacca Revolving Tower, the iconic Red House of Holland, the Malacca Clock Tower, the bustling Jonker Street, the serene Malacca River, the Zheng He Cultural Museum, various guildhalls, the ancient St.

Paul’s Church, the Sultan’s Palace, the theatrical Encore Melaka, and the stunning Maritime Mosque. Among these, St. Paul’s Church stood out for its timeless charm and the unique atmosphere that permeates its walls. For those looking to capture some Instagram-worthy moments, the Red House of Holland and the Maritime Mosque are must-visit spots.

Don’t miss the rickshaws with their “lavishly” decorated loudspeakers; if you’re an outgoing person who doesn’t mind a bit of social flair, taking a ride in one is a fun experience.

I indulged in Nanyang Chicken Rice Balls, where the poached chicken was absolutely delicious, though the roasted chicken was a tad dry. The ginger paste, however, added a delightful zing. At D1 Durian, since it wasn’t durian season, most of the fruits were frozen, and I found them lacking in flavor. The durian cendol was a bit of a letdown—the jelly was subpar, the shaved ice too coarse, and the sweetness at the bottom was overwhelming.

At Monterios Portuguese, a crab costs 80RM (add 10RM for salted egg yolk), which is quite reasonable, but don’t expect it to be very large. The water spinach was a bit past its prime, and the fried squid was overly doughy. Surprisingly, the star of the meal was the fried mantou dipped in salted egg yolk sauce; it was absolutely divine.

I also treated myself to a foot massage [sneaky laugh] for 50RM/60min, and it was incredibly invigorating.
