Langkawi Vacation Review: Beautiful but Not Worth a Second Visit
Initially, I had my heart set on Semporna, but my budget had other plans, so I ended up in Langkawi. Before the trip, a friend in Kuala Lumpur warned me not to set my expectations too high. I decided to go in blind, without any prior research. To my pleasant surprise, the Rainbow Hotel where we stayed offered a breathtaking view, reminiscent of Sanya [sneaky laugh R].

For dinner, we indulged in some Thai cuisine. The two of us, with our broken English, tried to order, and the waiter couldn’t help but chuckle at our attempts [laugh-cry R]. The entire meal was a steal at just over 100 Malaysian Ringgit—affordable and delicious 😋.

The next day, we were eager to go on a sunset cruise, but we arrived too late, and the boat had already set sail 🚢. During this time, we met two Pakistani men who struck up a conversation with us (the internet always portrays China and Pakistan as brothers, so we were open to the chat). When they learned we were heading back to China the next day, one of the Pakistani men jokingly said he wanted to follow us back to a city in China, expressing his fondness all the while.

This unexpected turn of events left us feeling quite uneasy, and we remained on high alert, pretending not to understand what they were saying!!! Seeing that we didn’t respond, the Pakistani men eventually left [crying R][crying R]. Fellow travelers, can you imagine the fear and helplessness of two girls in a foreign country!

!! In summary, we had a lot of fun in Langkawi, but it’s best to keep your expectations in check [sneaky laugh R][shy R].
