Discover the Best Scuba Diving Tips for Beginners and Enthusiasts 🤿
Perhentian Island Diving Trip
After months of eager anticipation and meticulous planning with friends, we finally set a date to earn our PADI Open Water Scuba Diving certification 🤿. The adventure began with a 7-hour bus journey from Kedah (SP) to Terengganu (Kuala Besut), where we arrived just as the sun was starting to peek over the horizon at 6 am.

We grabbed a quick breakfast at a nearby café and eagerly awaited the first boat to Coral Bay on Perhentian Island. The entire course spanned four thrilling days and three unforgettable nights.

Day 1
The day kicked off with an in-depth dive into the theory and e-learning modules. Our instructor reassured us that there was no rush, as long as we completed the theory exam within the next three days.
In the afternoon, we got hands-on with the basic scuba equipment and learned essential underwater skills.

As the sun dipped lower in the sky, we took our first confined water dive at a depth of about 10 meters, practicing the newly acquired skills. The evening was free for us to relax and soak in the island vibes.

Day 2
Today, we ventured out to sea for two open water dives, each at a depth of around 15 meters. We geared up and set sail at 8 am, ready to put our skills to the test in deeper waters 🌊. The morning dive allowed us to refine the skills we had learned the previous day, while the afternoon session introduced slightly more challenging techniques.

Day 3
Our third open water dive, at a depth of about 18 meters, was a culmination of all the skills we had mastered. With the course requirements met, we were treated to an exhilarating fun dive at a shipwreck site. This dive was a true highlight, as we explored the fascinating underwater world and got up close with a variety of marine life 🐟🐠🐡.

Day 4
To cap off our incredible experience, we added an extra fun dive at the renowned Tokong Laut. This dive was pure enjoyment, as we felt confident in our abilities and even spotted some turtles if we were lucky!
I wholeheartedly recommend Sea Voice Divers! Their team is not only professional and dedicated but also passionate about marine conservation.

They regularly participate in ocean protection activities, such as cleaning up underwater trash, removing large fishing nets, and planting corals, truly embodying the spirit of ocean ambassadors.

As for accommodations, it was perfectly adequate for two guys. After all, most of our time was spent at the dive center, and we only needed a place to shower and sleep.
The entire OW course, including accommodation, comes to approximately RM1500, which includes breakfast (though the breakfast itself is nothing to write home about). Keep an eye out for promotional offers, as they can make the trip even more budget-friendly.
This diving adventure was a whirlwind of excitement, and we even made a group of international friends along the way. Now, back in the real world, I find myself already missing the thrill of diving and the laid-back island life.
