Explore Big Stop Island Pulau Perhentian Besar: Ultimate Malaysia Getaway Destination

[Pick nose R] On the sprawling Perhentian Island, I had the chance to stay at both Pir and Coral View hotels. Unfortunately, Pir was fully booked later in my stay, so I ended up at Coral View. While the facilities at Coral View are more modern and well-maintained, the service left much to be desired. The staff often appeared disengaged and on the verge of exhaustion.

[Thumbs up R] The beach in front of Pir is a true gem, with its pristine sands and clear waters, though it does get quite deep quickly. The pier offers an unparalleled vantage point, where you can spot sharks, turtles, and even some ribbonfish gliding gracefully beneath the surface. The island’s lush forest is also teeming with life, with squirrels and flying squirrels darting through the trees.

[Thumbs up R] Another highlight is Turtle Beach, located in the northern part of the island. Accessible by boat, this picturesque beach is a serene escape, although the underwater scenery is not as vibrant. In the south, Teluk Keke boasts a longer stretch of sand, with sea water that shimmers in a mesmerizing light jelly green. Interestingly, the piers turned out to be the best spots for taking in the breathtaking views of the sea.

[Grass planting R] The entire large island exudes a tranquil atmosphere, making it an ideal destination for a relaxing getaway. Combining a leisurely stay with snorkeling adventures is a perfect match. The island attracts a diverse crowd, with many foreigners basking in the sun, their bikinis and sun-kissed skin adding to the vibrant beach scene.

[Pick nose R] To add a bit of constructive criticism, while the Chinese visitors are notably enthusiastic and most of the Muslim staff are genuinely kind, there are a few who seem perpetually listless, almost in a world of their own.
