Discover Hidden Secrets of Perhentian Island: Unshared Tips for Your Perfect Getaway
Before heading to Perhentian Island, I scoured through xhs and found the information quite scattered. Here, I’ve gathered all the essential tips that I believe are crucial, hoping that the algorithm will help push this to those [Sweet Potato R] planning a trip to Perhentian Island!

[One R] The east coast islands are best visited between March and September; other times, monsoons can spoil your plans. It’s also wise to avoid March and April due to the jellyfish season.
[Two R] For those flying, although Perhentian Island is in Terengganu state, Kota Bharu airport (KBR) is closer to Besut pier than Kuala Terengganu, making it a more convenient choice.

[Three R] I recommend booking the earliest flight possible, giving you more time to explore (I chose a 0740 arrival and 1800 departure).
[Four R] From KBR airport to the pier, the journey takes about an hour, and from the pier to the island, it’s approximately 30 minutes by boat.
[Five R] Perhentian Island is divided into Big Island (Besar) and Small Island (Kecil).

The Big Island offers a serene and tranquil atmosphere, while the Small Island is vibrant and lively.
[Six R] Accommodation on the Big Island is generally moderate, whereas the Small Island has a range of options from budget to luxury. Like many [Sweet Potato R], I opted for Barat on the Big Island (more on Barat in a later post).

[Seven R] The sea transfer from Besut pier to Perhentian Island is cheaper when booked on Klook, at just 49 per person round trip (use code: GIA5OFF for an additional 5% off). On-site, it can cost over 60.
[Eight R] Bring your own food; items sold on the island tend to be pricier. This way, you can save on meals at the hotel and bring some snacks for energy during your activities.

[Nine R] Don’t forget your diving shoes; the island is teeming with coral reefs, perfect for snorkeling.
[One R][Zero R] Snorkeling Trips A and B are different, and I personally think both are worth experiencing, so there’s no need to choose just one.
[One R][One R] If you’re prone to seasickness or have a sensitive stomach, make sure to bring your own medication.

[One R][Two R] While most places accept e-wallets and QR payments, it’s still a good idea to carry some cash.
[Raise Hand R] [Sweet Potato R] feel free to leave a comment if you have any additional tips!
[Fairy R] In my next post, I’ll share more about accommodation, itinerary, and more, so stay tuned!
