Explore Surabaya’s Hidden Gems: A Comprehensive City Walk Guide
Special Forces Rest Day Log –
After a grueling trek and the adrenaline rush of climbing a volcano, I hadn’t slept in a proper bed for nearly four days.
Craving some much-needed rest, I booked a cozy hotel in the heart of Surabaya and sank into a blissful 12-hour slumber.
Recharged and ready to explore, I hit the streets and strolled down the charming “Anfu Road.

”
The road was lined with an array of quaint little shops, perfect for snapping photos, and even street photographers were on hand, adding a touch of local flavor and humor.

Over the next few days, I noticed the pervasive influence of the Korean wave in Indonesia (and perhaps all of Southeast Asia).
K-pop tunes filled the air, even at roadside gas stations, creating a vibrant and energetic atmosphere.

Rather than rushing off to Bali or retreating immediately after our volcano adventure,
we decided to linger in this lesser-known city, savoring the experience and exploring its hidden gems on foot.
Perhaps due to the rarity of tourists, we often found ourselves the center of attention.
Curious locals would frequently approach us in malls and on the streets, eager to take photos and share a moment of connection.
