Komodo Recommendations & How to Avoid Common Pitfalls (Part 1)
I’ve just returned from a three-day adventure in Komodo, and it was nothing short of breathtaking—a must-visit destination. The landscapes were stunning, but there were also a few hiccups along the way. I’m excited to share my top recommendation and some insider tips to help future travelers make the most of their trip.
**Recommendation 1: The Seraya Resort (Photos 1-7)**
Nestled on a tranquil island, The Seraya Resort is an absolute gem for those seeking relaxation and natural beauty. After a day filled with activities, both my mother and I agreed that this resort was the highlight of our Bali trip. Even though the one-day Komodo tour was a close second, it was largely due to perfect weather conditions. In contrast, The Seraya consistently delivers a top-notch experience, rain or shine.
The resort offers a plethora of activities, including snorkeling among vibrant coral reefs and colorful fish, kayaking, paddleboarding, and even fish feeding. All the equipment and materials are provided free of charge, making it easy to dive into the fun. You can also book half-day or full-day tours through the hotel, though they come at a slightly higher price than external options.
We initially opted for a cheaper tour elsewhere, but quickly regretted it—the hotel’s service quality is unparalleled. Lazing on beach chairs with a refreshing coconut juice or a cold beer in hand is pure bliss. The staff is incredibly friendly, and the resort provides everything from exquisite dining to rejuvenating spa services.
One of the standout features is the shaded area at the dock, perfect for unwinding and taking in the spectacular views (Photo 1)—a luxury not found at the neighboring Sudamala. This is definitely a place I would return to in a heartbeat.
One small regret from our stay was not trying the welcome drink at the hotel. Due to concerns about Bali Belly, we initially passed on it. My mother, who rarely drinks beverages, took a sip and declared it delicious. Later, we realized that the water at the hotel seemed very safe, and I really wished I had tried that welcome drink. It’s a minor detail, but it adds to the overall experience.
