-Day New Zealand Adventure: Explore Dunedin & Oamaru’s Wildlife Wonders
The journey is drawing to a close.
With just two days left before our return, we’ve already stocked up on provisions for the trip home. There’s nothing more to spend on, and as of day 13, the total cost per person stands at 14,200 RMB.

The East Coast stretch from Dunedin to Oamaru was nothing short of breathtaking.

Following the route suggested by our host, we were treated to not only stunning vistas but also the chance to observe the natural habitats of wild sea lions and seals. As the sun set, we were delighted to witness over 20 little blue penguins waddling back to their nests, all for free, right by the roadside.

The night sky in Oamaru was equally mesmerizing, offering a dazzling display of stars that left us in awe.

From Dunedin, we navigated to Oamaru, passing through Port Chalmers, and then taking Blueskin Road to Shag Point, where we encountered the seal habitat. We continued on to the Moeraki Boulders, known for their mysterious spherical formations, and then to Katiki Point Lighthouse, another haven for sea lions.

Finally, we arrived in Oamaru. For a free viewing of the little blue penguins, head to the 📍Oamaru Blue Penguin Colony. While there is a paid area inside, you can actually catch a glimpse of these adorable creatures for free by waiting on the roadside outside.
