Discover Mount Cook: Your Ultimate New Zealand Mountain Adventure 🏔️
Three days at Mount Cook, where every morning you open the door to breathtaking snow-capped mountains [Cute] The sense of relaxation was simply incredible! With fantastic weather and a stroke of luck, I managed to complete a glacier hike, visit an ice lake, and walk the Hooker Valley trail. I also witnessed the enchanting blue moment at Lake Tekapo and the stunning reflection of Lake Pukaki.

Next time in New Zealand, I’d be more than willing to spend a whole week basking in the beauty of Mount Cook [Shy]

🌟3-day in-depth tour of Mount Cook:
Day 1: Christchurch → Lake Tekapo [Take Highway 77, with a scenic stop at Rakaia Gorge, and pass by a viewpoint offering a glimpse of a glacier lake]
Day 2: Tasman Glacier Hike → Tasman Glacier Trail → Lake Pukaki
Day 3: Hooker Valley Hike

📍Tasman Glacier Hike
Book at least one month in advance! There are three companies that offer glacier hiking experiences at Mount Cook. We chose Mt Cook Glacier Guide, but there are also The Helicopter Line and Charlie. You can book directly on their official websites [Kiss]
The glacier hike is highly dependent on the weather.

It may be canceled or rescheduled on the day, and whether you can successfully step onto the glacier depends a bit on luck. The success rate is higher in the morning.
The helicopter ride is incredibly smooth, and you’ll get to see glacier meltwater and glacial lakes along the way. The hike itself takes about 1.

5 hours. There are also various helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft sightseeing tours available.

📍Tasman Glacier Trail
This short and sweet trail takes about 40 minutes round trip. Follow the signs towards the Tasman River, and the endpoint is the glacial lake at the foot of Mount Cook [Party]

📍Hooker Valley Trail
The entire round trip takes about 3 hours, with the majestic snow-capped mountains always in view. If you’re short on time, you can turn back after reaching the first suspension bridge, which takes about 1 hour. Before the first suspension bridge, there’s a small hill to the left front, where you can capture a perfect photo with the snow-capped mountains (P2).

📍Lake Tekapo
A charming small town featuring the iconic Church of the Good Shepherd and various stargazing tours. Sit on the benches by the lake and soak in the serene view of the snow-capped mountains; the relaxation is simply incredible! At sunset, you can also witness the golden light casting a magical glow on the mountains!
📍Lake Pukaki
As you drive to Mount Cook on Highway 80, you’ll follow the stunning Lake Pukaki, with numerous beautiful viewpoints along the way [Wow] At Peter’s Lookout, you can take a picture-perfect shot of the winding Highway 80, Lake Pukaki, and Mount Cook together (P8).
Drive along the road on the east side of Lake Pukaki (navigate to Pukaki swing), and you can reach the less-visited east shore of Lake Pukaki, where you can stroll to the stone beach by the lake.
We took some truly amazing starry sky photos here (P18).
