Mt Cook Helicopter Tour: Experience Glacier Landing Adventure
Helicopter sightseeing and glacier hiking at Mt. Cook in New Zealand are absolute must-do experiences, offering year-round views of snow-capped peaks and majestic glaciers.
These thrilling adventures are provided by Mt Cook Ski Planes & Helicopters, with departures from the Mount Cook Airport. The 45-minute tour combines a scenic flight in a ski plane and a helicopter, culminating in a breathtaking landing on the Tasman Glacier. This unique experience allows you a few precious moments to step out and capture stunning photos.
❗️❗️❗️ (There’s also a 25-minute option that doesn’t include the glacier landing. ❗️) Before boarding, ensure that loose items like scarves and hats are securely fastened, and all clothing is zipped up tightly. Handheld selfie sticks, GoPros, and DJI devices are not allowed for safety reasons.
Contrary to what you might expect, the temperature on the glacier is surprisingly similar to that at the mountain base. With only our helicopter present, the glacier exudes a serene and awe-inspiring atmosphere, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the pristine, snowy landscape.
On the day of our visit, the weather was exceptionally clear, but strong winds prevented the ski plane from landing. Instead, we enjoyed two exhilarating helicopter trips, which gave us ample time to marvel at the breathtaking glacier and take plenty of memorable photos!
C’était incroyable de poser le pied sur la Tasman Glacier, les paysages sont à couper le souffle ! J’ai adoré combiner vol en avion et hélicoptère, ça ajoute un côté encore plus magique à l’aventure.
