It’s not easy at all! Finally got the Argentine 10-year multiple-entry tourist visa in Shanghai. It was a tough journey, living up to its reputation as one of the hardest visas to obtain. I’m here to share my experience: Writing this is no small feat, so please give it a like 💗 or follow ➕, much appreciated 🫰

⁉️Why go to Argentina?
Argentina is the farthest country from China. I will always remember the scenes from the movie “Happy Together”: the overwhelming power of the Iguazu Falls and the boundless expanse of the lighthouse at the end of Ushuaia. Everything about it is so captivating!

⁉️Electronic AVE or 10-year paper visa?
1️⃣ The electronic visa has requirements, such as holding a US visa with at least one entry and exit record; the paper visa does not.
2️⃣ Validity differs: Electronic visa: 30 days 🆚 Paper visa: 10 years
3️⃣ Cost: Electronic visa is more expensive! 400 USD 🆚 Paper visa 150 USD
4️⃣ The process for the electronic visa is faster, submitted online without an interview, but the rejection rate is higher.

Overall: The paper visa has no threshold, the process is more complex, but it offers better value for money! Personally, I recommend 👍 the paper visa.

⁉️Visa application materials (Figure 2 provides detailed instructions)
1️⃣ Visa application form (see Figure 4)
2️⃣ Personal identification information, including passport, ID card copies + translations, 4×4 photos, and a resume in both Chinese and English.
3️⃣ Travel plan: An English itinerary, flight reservation, hotel reservation, and insurance.

Note that the hotel and flight reservations must be genuine, and every mode of transportation mentioned in the itinerary needs to be reserved.
4️⃣ I applied as a freelancer, which required a notarized Spanish translation of my bank statement, along with authentication from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

All material information can be found on the Argentine consulate website. Once all materials are prepared, you can submit the visa. The staff at the submission window will review the materials, and if everything is okay, you can proceed with the submission.
💁‍♂️Tip: If you don’t want to make extra trips, you can send an email to have them pre-review the materials. (Figure 3 shows the consulate’s email response, very detailed.)

⁉️Interview experience (detailed questions are in a separate post, see the “Visa Guide” collection)
Generally, you will be notified by phone within 3 working days after submitting the materials to schedule the interview time.
The interview is quite thorough, asking about your travel purpose, itinerary, and source of funds.

The key to the interview is to express yourself sincerely, showing your love and longing for the country, which is really effective. After the interview, they will tell you the result on the spot, and you can expect to get the visa that same afternoon! Wishing everyone a smooth visa process!
