End of the World” Ushuaia: Explore Narrow Gauge Train in Tierra del Fuego National Park
Ushuaia, often referred to as the “End of the World,” is nestled on the southernmost tip of Tierra del Fuego Island in Argentina. This remote island, one of the most southern in the world, is divided between Argentina and Chile, with its eastern part belonging to Argentina and the western part to Chile. As the capital of Tierra del Fuego Province, Ushuaia stands proudly at the southern edge of the island, earning its title as the southernmost city in the world.

Thanks to its unique geographical location, every aspect of Ushuaia, from the city itself to its roads, post office, train station, port, and lighthouse, is adorned with the prefix “End of the World” or “World’s Southernmost.” This enchanting place is not only the closest point to Antarctica but also serves as the primary departure point for Antarctic expeditions.

🌟🌟🌟
Our cruise ship arrived early at the bustling dock in Ushuaia, where a fleet of other vessels bound for Antarctica were moored. As we stepped off the ship and made our way into the town, we were greeted by a breathtaking panorama of snow-capped mountains, lush forests, vibrant buildings, and the serene harbor coast. The town, cradled by snow-covered peaks and a turquoise bay, resembled a tranquil, picturesque scene.

🌟🌟🌟
We ventured into Tierra del Fuego National Park and boarded the iconic “End of the World” narrow-gauge train. The steam locomotive chugged along, pulling us slowly through the park’s central valley, offering spectacular views of towering mountains, winding rivers, and dense forests. The journey was enhanced by a Chinese audio guide that narrated the rich history of Ushuaia, adding depth to the scenic experience.

🌟🌟🌟
To explore the southernmost bay, we visited the Earth’s southernmost post office, a quaint building perched on a wooden boardwalk that stretches from the beach to the seaside. Despite the elderly man who ran it being quite advanced in years and the post office being closed, visitors still flocked to this charming spot to capture a moment and send postcards from the edge of the world.

🌟🌟🌟
As the day drew to a close, we returned to the cruise ship, ready to set sail for Antarctica. The sky was painted in a mesmerizing blend of pink and orange hues, and the sea mirrored the radiant colors. In the distance, the mountains and lighthouses stood silhouetted against the twilight, creating a dreamlike and unforgettable scene.
