This incredible journey begins in the bustling city of Beijing and culminates in the southernmost city of Ushuaia, with the entire route spanning from Beijing to Paris, then Madrid, followed by Buenos Aires, and finally Ushuaia.
[One R] For the first leg of the journey, we opted for Air France. Departing from Beijing, we transferred in Paris, arriving first in Madrid. From there, we switched to Aerolíneas Argentinas for the final legs from Madrid to Buenos Aires and then to Ushuaia.

[Two R] We completed the online check-in process, which was a breeze. When it came to checking in our luggage, there was a dedicated line, making the process much faster than on-site check-in.

[Three R] During the luggage check-in, the staff inquired about our return date, ensuring everything was in order.

[Four R] As we entered the customs area, the staff first inspected our passports and asked about the purpose of our trip. When I mentioned it was for leisure, they noticed my passport was filled with visa stamps and asked if I frequently traveled. Confirming that I did, they directed me to the self-service passage, streamlining the process even further.

[Five R] It was late at night, and the security checkpoint was surprisingly quiet. Perhaps it was just our flight? Regardless, the process was incredibly swift.

[Eight R] Arriving in Madrid, Spain, which is within the Schengen Area, we proceeded directly to collect our luggage. After a 3-hour wait, we initially wanted to check the luggage weight and see if check-in had started three hours in advance. To our surprise, check-in and luggage drop-off were already underway.

The staff carefully examined my ticket and visa before processing the necessary procedures. They provided two boarding passes: one for Madrid to Buenos Aires and another for Buenos Aires to Ushuaia. The luggage tags also indicated these two destinations, but the luggage claim slip was attached to the boarding pass for arrival in Buenos Aires, and we were instructed to collect and re-check our luggage in Buenos Aires.

This seemed a bit unusual, but the border control and security checks went smoothly, and the area was not overly crowded.

[Nine R] I initially anticipated that the segment from Madrid to Buenos Aires would be the most challenging part of the journey, given the fatigue from the previous flights. However, the flight was not full, and the 2-4-2 seating arrangement allowed me some extra space. The passenger next to me moved to another seat, giving me two seats to myself.

I slept comfortably, listened to music, and the 13-hour journey flew by. Perhaps it was because the flight was early (4:08 AM) or after the peak tourist season, but there was no queue at border control, which usually has long lines. Indeed, I had to collect and re-check my luggage, but the process was quick.

No need to print a new boarding pass or luggage tag, just a small check-in card. After going through security and waiting, it wasn’t even 6 AM yet. I realized I had been overly cautious; I could have booked an earlier flight [smiling face]. Of course, it’s always better to be safe.
