I booked a one-day tour, and I must admit, my expectations were quite different. I had imagined a bustling island teeming with people [facepalm], but instead, it turned out to be a serene walk through a small, enchanting forest. The experience felt like a delightful spring outing, with many families and their children enjoying the day.

One thing that stood out was the locals’ love for mate 🧉; it seemed as if everyone carried a thermos and a cup wherever they went. Our guide spoke in Spanish, passionately describing the various trees [laugh-cry], but unfortunately, I couldn’t understand a single word. To add to the unique experience, we were the only two Asians, making it feel like a pair of Chinese explorers following the locals on a charming spring adventure [facepalm].

Despite the language barrier, the day was incredibly relaxing.

The tour started with a pickup at 9 AM, and by 10 AM, we arrived at the dock. The boat ride was quite long, and we even made a stop at another island, where we strolled through yet another small, picturesque forest. Finally, we reached Victoria Island, and our leisurely walk through the forest lasted about an hour.

The day seemed to wrap up around 3 PM, and we took a well-deserved break at a cozy restaurant. We caught the 5:20 PM boat back, which took about 30 minutes, and then hopped on a bus for the hour-long journey back to the city.
