How to Book the Cheapest Flights to Argentina for Winter 2023

Last year, I took their flights to and from Bariloche, and they were impressively punctual. Thinking I had discovered a reliable and budget-friendly airline, I eagerly signed up for a membership, planning to use it frequently in the future.

In January and February of this year, I booked three more flights: one from El Calafate to Buenos Aires, and two between Puerto Iguazú and Buenos Aires.

After sharing my experience, an Argentine netizen warned me that the airline is notoriously unreliable. Curious, I did some online research and was met with a harsh reality check—see P2-4. Despite this, I held out a glimmer of hope, thinking that perhaps the warnings had prompted some improvements. Alas, my optimism was short-lived, and I found myself in a whirlwind of frustration [laugh-cry].

About a week after booking, I received a flurry of notifications: the first flight was moved up by 2.5 hours, the second was delayed by 1 hour, and the third was also moved up by 2.5 hours. Nervous, I kept a close eye on my inbox for any further updates [laugh-cry]. On the day of the first flight, just as I was about to leave for the airport, another notification arrived, delaying the flight by 3 hours.

My bus ticket couldn’t be changed, so I ended up spending half a day at the airport, but thankfully, the flight eventually departed on time.

The second flight was delayed by 1.5 hours, which slightly disrupted my plans, but it wasn’t too severe. The real nightmare came with the third flight. The day before, I received an email stating that the flight was canceled due to operational issues, and I could either reschedule or request a refund. Upon checking, I found that all their flights for that night were canceled, with the next available one being the following morning.

I spent the night trying to reach their customer service to reschedule, but to no avail. To avoid further delays, I reluctantly opted for a refund and purchased a ticket from a different airline.

They said the refund would take a month, but I’m not holding my breath. This is the level of efficiency you can expect in South America…

While their tickets are undeniably cheap, the poor operational management makes me extremely hesitant to fly with them again [facepalm].

For a more reliable experience, consider Aerolíneas Argentinas, LATAM, or Jetsmart, all of which have a much better track record.
