🚘 Bucharest – Constanta Mamaia Weekend Trip for Five, Two Days and One Night by Car, departing from Bucharest on Saturday, it takes about two and a half hours to reach Constanta, mostly on highways, the road is good with no traffic. Tip ⚠️: Remember to buy the taxa de pod and Rovinetă in advance, otherwise, you might receive a fine in a small black envelope.
1️⃣ About Accommodation: The biggest pitfall of this trip! We booked a homestay through Booking (the name of the homestay is in the last picture). The only advantage of this homestay is its proximity to the beach. The disadvantages are as follows: The homestay is above a restaurant, which has diners until around 10 PM, playing rather loud music, seriously affecting rest.
Since we stayed on the second floor, we could also smell the cooking fumes; the air conditioner in the two-bedroom apartment was old and barely working, providing no cooling effect at all, you’d probably have to stick your face right up to it to feel any coolness [sigh]. It’s currently the peak tourist season in Constanta, so if you plan to visit, make sure to book your accommodation early.
We booked quite late, and the better options were already taken, hence the poor experience [Accommodation cost 1170 lei].
2️⃣ About Activities: The beach is made entirely of broken shells, not sand, so it’s recommended to wear water shoes as it can be very painful to walk on. Due to the abundance of algae, the seawater appears green, and you will come out of the sea with algae on your body.
The price for a beach chair is 180 lei per person, which is a bit expensive, but they are indeed quite comfortable. Jet skis cost 300 lei for 10 minutes for a single rider and 400 lei for 10 minutes for a double rider. Although it’s said to be 10 minutes, it feels like you’re only allowed to ride for about 5-6 minutes before being called back, making the price quite steep.
3️⃣ About Food: Restaurant name: Taverna Racilor Mamaia Nord. Notably, the drinks at this place are very good. We ordered non-alcoholic cocktails, and every one of them was enjoyable. The Black Sea isn’t known for its seafood, so the dishes mainly feature mussels, shrimp, and squid, which suit Chinese tastes well.
The seafood rice is better than the seafood noodles. The grilled squid should be avoided as it contains feta cheese, which is hard to eat [Meal cost 1100 lei]. There’s also a place where you can touch mussels and sea snails. If needed, you can message me privately.
