Just a forty-minute drive north of Gothenburg lies a charming little island.

There’s no need for a detailed plan; after parking the car, I simply strolled over to the dock and purchased a round-trip boat ticket. The exact price escapes me, but it was somewhere around thirty to forty kronor. Once on board, the journey felt like it lasted only a minute 😂—I barely had time to get comfortable in my seat before we arrived.

The island is compact, perfect for a leisurely wander, allowing you to explore wherever your curiosity takes you.

I visited on a Sunday, and most of the shops, as well as the castle, were closed. So, I found myself perched on a hillside, taking in the picturesque view of white houses with red roofs and the deep blue sea stretching out beyond. Thanks to the automatic mode on my Olympus camera, I was able to capture the essence of Marstrand, preserving my best impressions of the place.
