I always thought Valparaíso was just a dilapidated small town, even considering it the epitome of dirt, disorder, and poor conditions. It wasn’t until I spent a night and two days in Valparaíso over the weekend that I gained a deeper understanding.
[Facepalm] If you judge by the bus terminal, well, the Valparaíso terminal does indeed look like a slum.
There are all sorts of street vendors lining the streets, very much like Franklin, and the city’s architecture is hard to describe. Apart from the huge seagulls circling in the sky and the begging pigeons everywhere, there isn’t much to be surprised about. The only advantage is the affordable prices; you can basically buy things for half the price of Las Condes.
[Doge] But if you think I’m here to criticize Valparaíso, you’d be dead wrong!
Because as you walk north along the coastline of Valparaíso’s main urban area, you’ll see a coastline that rivals the best in the country, a perfect place for taking great photos!
That’s right, in this area called Concón.
Remember to come when it’s sunny, with the sea breeze gently caressing your hair, ready to capture those moments 📸!

👏 For traveling from Santiago, I chose Condor buses, with round-trip tickets costing around 6000 pesos per person, and the journey takes about 2 hours.
Remember to choose Viña del Mar instead of Valparaíso!
🥸 You can understand it this way: the former is a wealthy area with good infrastructure and roads, a wild coastline, and not too many people on the beach (at least compared to China), but the prices are higher, with more expensive accommodation and meals (though not much different from Las Condes).
🥲 The latter is similar to the main urban area and the center of Santiago, except for the colorful houses (but personally, I don’t think they make for great photos), and you also need to see them when the sun is shining brightly.
