A place with fewer tourists: Starting from San Pedro and driving along Highway 27, the journey is a feast for the eyes. The landscape is stark and barren, with no grass in sight, yet the vivid soil colors create a striking and otherworldly beauty. The road conditions are excellent, but as you climb, it almost feels like the car is experiencing altitude sickness [laugh-cry]. The highest elevation reaches an impressive 4820 meters.

📍Quebrada Quepiaco Viewpoint
📍Pacana Caldera Viewpoint

Upon reaching these two stunning viewpoints, you’ll suddenly feel like you’ve stumbled upon a hidden oasis. Both locations are completely wild and free of admission fees. There are parking lots by the roadside where you can stop and take in the breathtaking views, and you’ll likely have the entire place to yourself.

You might even spot some wild llamas and various bird species [smirk]. Flamingos can be seen at a distance, though not in large numbers. According to Google reviews, if you’re lucky, you might even encounter foxes [crying]. We noticed many off-road tracks, suggesting that guided tours venture into even more spectacular areas.

However, since we were self-driving in a small car, we didn’t dare to go too far. If you’re interested in exploring further, consider inquiring at local travel agencies.
