Flying from Santiago, Chile 🇨🇱 to Easter Island 🗿, the most mesmerizing sight are the ancient Moai statues. Even though I had seen them in documentaries, nothing compares to the awe-inspiring experience of seeing them in person 🫨.

On the first afternoon on the island, we were picked up from the airport by the hotel and took a leisurely stroll around the charming town (pictures 5-6). We indulged in some delicious coffee ice cream and sampled the highly recommended local beer (picture 7).

Originally, I planned to join a tour group on the second day. The island is known for its fair and transparent pricing, with a one-day tour guide fee of 50,000 Chilean pesos and an entrance fee of $80 for the national park 💸. However, finding an English-speaking guide proved to be quite a challenge.

Despite making several calls, the guides eventually stopped responding, likely thinking it wasn’t worth their time. In the end, I decided to hire a private car for a customized personal tour. Our local guide primarily spoke Spanish, so we communicated with a mix of a few English words and gestures, which led to some amusing moments 👍 [laughing].

Although our trip started at 11:30, it still concluded smoothly at 18:00. We managed to visit all the main attractions in one day, except for the Rano Raraku site with the large stone statues, which was closed due to road repairs. To be honest, when 15 majestic stone statues stood before me, I felt a profound sense of fulfillment ✌️.

In my joy, I treated the guide to a Chinese meal and filled up the gas tank. Efficiency is my trademark, and there are always benefits to spending a little extra [selfie].

On the third morning, I savored the serene South Pacific beach 🌊, and once again enjoyed coffee ☕ and ice cream at noon. In the afternoon, I took a late flight back to Santiago. My three-day island adventure came to a successful and satisfying conclusion, and now I’m preparing to return to work and get back to the daily grind 🧱. After all, we are the chosen ones to work hard [shy].
