After savoring the delectable seafood in Puerto Montt, we promptly hopped on a bus bound for the enchanting Chiloé Island.

Chile boasts an impressively well-organized bus network, with numerous companies vying for travelers’ attention. The three giants of the industry are Tur Bus, Pullman Bus, and Condor Bus. Long-distance journeys are typically made on comfortable double-decker buses, and the ticket prices can be quite dynamic. Much like the stock market, fares fluctuate based on demand and timing.

At the bustling main bus station in Puerto Montt, a few inquiries revealed that the fare to Chiloé Island ranged from 9,000 to 11,000 Chilean pesos. We opted for the soonest departure, which cost us 9,000 Chilean pesos.

The bus offered spacious and plush seating, allowing us to recline comfortably. Each seat was equipped with air conditioning, USB charging ports, and WiFi, ensuring a pleasant journey. An attentive attendant was on board to check tickets, stow large luggage, and kindly remind passengers of their stops.

As the bus pulled out of the city, we were treated to picturesque views of the countryside. Given that Chiloé Island is nestled in the Pacific Ocean, our journey included a scenic half-hour ferry ride. After a 4.5-hour trip filled with beautiful landscapes, we finally set foot on Chile’s largest island—Chiloé Island.
