Personal Mistakes to Avoid:
1. In Tierra del Fuego National Park, steer clear of the typical tours; they can be as chaotic as a battlefield. You’ll find yourself hopping off the bus for quick photo ops and then rushing back on, with minimal hiking and only two stops. Lunch is a hurried 20-minute affair!

If you must join a tour, compare prices carefully. We booked one for 25,000, but Peguine offered a similar experience for just 17,000. Our guide’s English was nearly incomprehensible, and there was little in the way of informative commentary—it was essentially a series of photo stops. Ensure that the tour includes hiking, or it might turn out to be rather dull.

If you opt out of a tour, study the park map thoroughly. Despite its basic nature, the signposts are well-placed and easy to follow. Coordinate with a taxi driver (or consider renting a car) to arrange pickup times and locations. The park’s bus service is limited and may not be very convenient.

2. For the boat trip out to sea, choose the company shown in the picture without hesitation! Their boat costs 18,000, the same as other companies, but it offers a far superior experience. With three levels, including an open-air top deck, it provides a comfortable and spacious environment. The staff is less intrusive, and the overall atmosphere is more relaxed. Skip the travel agencies and head straight to the tourist port to buy your tickets at this company’s small booth.
3. The End of the World Post Office typically opens around mid-October and remains open until March of the following year. If you visit before then, the trail leading to it might not even be accessible.
4. The train ride is most scenic in winter, with the snow adding a magical touch. During other seasons, the landscape is less remarkable, and the snow has melted away. Summer visitors might find the train ride unnecessary.
