Bariloche Lakeside Leisure Tour: Explore Scenic Beauty & Relaxation
After being out for three months, I planned to rest by the lake for a few days. I booked a lakeside homestay, where I could just lie down, stroll around, and braise beef (the prices are quite reasonable! The beef is super tender, with no fishy smell at all). My parents weren’t feeling well, so they didn’t join the tour.

🏠 Town:
[StarR]【Secretaría de Turismo Bariloche – Informes Turísticos】
Tourist center, where they speak English, provide maps, offer information on sightseeing and transportation, help book tours, and sell bus tickets. You can add their official WhatsApp number, and they will automatically reply with information when you send a keyword.

Can’t post sweet potato, if needed, please message privately.
[StarR]【Mirador Lago Nahuel Huapi】
From the central square down to the lakeside, there’s a sign for Bariloche, and we happened to catch them putting up new paper. There are seats by the lake to bask in the sun, and from the boardwalk, you can see the church spires in the distance.

[StarR]【Mitre Street】
From the square into the main street, both sides are lined with shops, restaurants, chocolate stores, travel agencies, and car rental places.
[StarR]【Rapanui】
A local chocolate brand 🍫, with a large store that has seating and even an ice rink. The chocolate is very sweet! Two scoops of ice cream cost about 10 RMB, the taste is authentic, and you can try before buying.

There’s a restroom in the store.
[StarR]【Mamuschka】
A chocolate shop styled like Russian nesting dolls, also with seating.
[StarR]【Vélo Bakery】
A highly-rated bakery, not many varieties, but also sweet.
[StarR]【Trevisán】
A bakery frequented by locals, offering various frosted breads.
[StarR]【La Anónima】
A larger supermarket with vegetables and fruits, bigger than Todo.

I was preparing to buy butter for braising beef, took a piece to the checkout to ask if it was butter, but the cashier uncle didn’t understand English. A lady who had just finished checking out, with a little boy, told me it wasn’t. When she saw my dad put it back, she even ran into the store to help us find the right one.

People here are so nice!

🌲 Route 77
[StarR]【Puerto Pañuelo】
We hopped into a taxi and made our way to the pier, where the dense forest of Route 77 envelops you in its lush greenery. Boat tours are available, and tickets can be purchased on-site, but we decided to skip it due to the lengthy duration. A short, scenic trail leads to a viewpoint (no mountain climbing required), and there’s a restroom conveniently located in the pier building.

[StarR]【Llao Llao Hotel】
Just a ten-minute uphill walk from the pier, the Llao Llao Hotel is nestled near the snow-capped mountains, with a picturesque golf course at its feet. The surroundings are truly breathtaking. We informed the security guard that we were heading to the chocolate shop, but unfortunately, it was closed, and we weren’t permitted to enter the hotel.
So, we took a leisurely stroll around the grounds before departing. The lobby, adorned with rich wooden interiors, exudes an old-world, luxurious charm.
On our return, we headed back down to the pier to call an Uber. Our driver, equipped with a translation app, engaged us in a friendly chat and even shared a fascinating tidbit: there’s an abandoned Nazi nuclear test facility on one of the islands in the lake.
