Comprehensive 2023 Travel Visa Guide: Bolivia from Buenos Aires, Argentina 🇧🇴
1️⃣ Starting February 24, 2025, the Bolivian embassy will be located at Virrey Cevallos 1379. Ensure you head to the correct address (see P2) to avoid any inconvenience. While appointments are not required, it’s advisable to arrive early to secure your spot in the queue. The embassy begins processing applications at 9 AM, so arriving by 8:30 AM is a good strategy.

‼️ The necessary documents for the visa application are detailed on P3. All paperwork must be in English or Spanish. A Korean traveler I encountered had her hotel reservation in Korean and was asked to provide additional translated documents. She managed to get them translated and printed at the nearest printing shop, located at Constitucion 1792. Even with this last-minute requirement, her application was still processed and approved on the same day.

2️⃣ As of March 12, 2025, the visa fee is 34,400 Argentine pesos (approximately 28 USD). You can make the payment in cash or by credit card at Av. Entre Ríos 1062, C1080ABR, Autonomous City of Buenos Aires. If you have access to Mercado Pago, you can also pay online and send the transfer receipt to the embassy’s email. Detailed payment instructions will be provided on a small yellow paper once your visa is approved.

3️⃣ The visa is valid for 30 days from the date of entry. You can collect it one day (24 hours) after approval. The Korean traveler I met was flying to Ushuaia that evening. After some negotiation, we managed to submit her application by 11 AM, and she was able to pick up her visa by 3 PM. In non-urgent situations, you would typically need to return the next day to collect your visa.

4️⃣ Some feedback: The cost of a visa on arrival is over 100 USD, making the sticker visa a much more affordable and straightforward option if you have all the required documents. The process in Buenos Aires can feel less efficient compared to other countries. Despite the embassy opening at 9 AM, you need to arrive early to queue.

In the 21st century, it’s surprising that the embassy does not have an appointment system, requiring you to queue in person. On my first attempt, I went to the old address, only to find out it had moved, and the official website did not reflect this change. There was no confirmation email for the application submission, so I arrived at the new address at 11 AM.
The staff informed me that there were no more slots for tourist visas that day and advised me to come back early the next morning. When I returned at 8:45 AM, there was already a long line. The Korean traveler I met had a similar experience, arriving at the old address at 7:30 AM, only to rush to the new location.
