Discover Unforgettable Surprises: Top Destinations Never Missed by Travel Agencies
Back then, for her journey to the Chilean Lake District, Summer meticulously scoured through a myriad of travel guides, both online and offline, but found very little useful information. Due to its low profile, the lake district was not even featured on the itineraries of most travel agencies. If you were part of a group tour, the travel agency would never include the lake district in your plans.

So, when Summer finally arrived at the lake district, she was almost completely in the dark, with no idea what to expect.

Later, as she entered Argentina and traveled north along Route 40 towards Buenos Aires, she stumbled upon a charming place called El Bolson. Someone there told her that this area was also known as the Argentine Lake District (Figure 1). What a surprise! She had no idea there was a lake district in Argentina too, and such breathtaking scenery? (Figure 2)

Afterward, Summer visited the famous Bariloche, and as she continued north, she reached a stunning confluence of two lakes. There, she witnessed an incredible sight—a bridge above and a bridge below (Figure 3). The scenery was still enchanting, and the neighboring town, with its rather long name, Villa La Angostura, added to the charm.

Continuing further north, after leaving Junin de los Andes, the Argentine Lake District came to an end. Why? Because they only managed to secure this small piece, while the rest of the prime locations were firmly held by the Chileans, haha! (By the way, why do they make the place names so long? Don’t the Argentinians find it a bit cumbersome?)

While traveling in the Chilean Lake District, one of Summer’s biggest challenges was finding affordable accommodation. Finding a cabin for $100 a night was already considered lucky, and $150 a night was the norm. But, to her surprise, once she crossed the border into Argentina, the same kind of cabin cost only $30. The sudden happiness was a bit overwhelming!

Although the Argentine peso has depreciated significantly in recent years, with 2.7 million square kilometers of land—equivalent to one-third of our country—supporting only 47 million people, anything produced domestically in Argentina remains very attractively priced. For example, the fragrant grilled beef is a true delight!
