Discover Why Argentina is the Ultimate Paradise for Outdoor Enthusiasts in South America
After more than two months of exploring South America, traveling through Argentina, Chile, Peru, and Ecuador, every destination left a lasting impression. However, for outdoor enthusiasts, the ultimate paradise is undoubtedly Argentina!

The renowned Patagonia region in Argentina is a haven for nature lovers, with El Calafate being the most well-known. Just a 3-hour drive away, you’ll find El Chalten, a spiritual home for adventurers from around the globe. This is where the iconic Fitz Roy mountain, featured on the Patagonia logo, stands tall 🏔️

Here are the top three must-visit spots in Patagonia!!

1️⃣ Big Ice Hike at Moreno Glacier
Base yourself in El Calafate and book a day trip to the glacier. You can choose between a mini track (45 minutes) or a big ice hike (3 hours). As only one adventure company in town offers this unique experience, it’s highly sought after, so make sure to reserve your spot at least a week or even a month in advance.

I’m not one for planning ahead, and after waiting for three days without securing a place, I ended up opting for a less thrilling option that just involved touching the glacier (extremely boring!!).

2️⃣ Horseback Riding Under the Snow-Capped Mountains
Between El Calafate and El Chalten, at La Leona, you can gallop through the desert under the majestic snow-capped mountains 🐎, take a refreshing dip in a glacial lake, and savor a delicious barbecue feast in the heart of the desert 🥩. The stunning view of Fitz Roy from the other side of El Chalten is truly breathtaking, offering an unforgettable experience!! A detailed guide has been published before.

3️⃣ Hiking in El Chalten
El Chalten, often referred to as the advanced version of Si Gu Niang Mountain Town in South America, is a true gem for outdoor enthusiasts. It’s a place of incredible beauty!!
In addition to the classic Fitz Roy hiking trail, there are over a dozen trails of varying lengths and difficulties to choose from.

Even if you stay for ten days to half a month, you won’t run out of exciting adventures! This time, due to time constraints, I only managed to hike three trails, but I absolutely loved them. A detailed guide has also been published before, so be sure to check it out.

Overall, Patagonia is a dream destination for those who love the outdoors. Whether you’re into hiking, horseback riding, snow mountain climbing, paragliding, kayaking, or cycling, you’ll find endless opportunities to indulge in your passions! You can even bring a tent and camp on the mountain for an incredible experience!!
