Essential Tips for First-Time Visitors to Buenos Aires: Must-Listen Advice Before You Go
In Buenos Aires, a decent dining experience for two can easily set you back 800-1500 RMB. Even a mediocre bowl of Vietnamese pho will cost you 24 USD, which is surprisingly more expensive than in Northern Europe [shy R].

The critical issue here is the quality of the food—it’s just not up to par, and I can’t stress this enough: it’s not good, not good, not good!

When the food is subpar, it really dampens the mood and ruins the entire experience.

Now, let’s dive into the best solution: stay in a cozy BnB and cook your own meals!

Avoid the supermarkets at all costs! Repeat: do not go to the supermarkets! Instead, buy your meat from the local shops shown in pictures 2-4. The quality is superior, and the variety is impressive. With just 6000 pesos per day, you can feed two people well.

For fresh vegetables and fruits, head to the stores featured in pictures 5-10. The produce there is far better than what you’ll find in any supermarket. A budget of 8000 pesos per day is ample for two. And for those with a sweet tooth, indulge in desserts from specialized pastry shops or cafes.

If you need to stock up on alcohol and other essentials, a trip to the supermarket with 20-30 thousand pesos will get you some excellent and satisfying meals. To put that in perspective, 20-30 thousand pesos wouldn’t even cover a single main course at a restaurant, and there’s a high chance it won’t be worth the price.

The BnB I stayed in this time is highly recommended. It’s a spacious 80 square meters, conveniently located right next to the Teatro Colón. For just under 300 USD for 4 nights, you get a fantastic location with multiple supermarkets, butcher shops, fruit stores, and cafes within a 5-minute walk. The facilities are top-notch, and the area is incredibly safe, with 24-hour security.

After a leisurely stroll, returning for a homemade lunch and a rest will leave you refreshed and ready for the afternoon.
Buenos Aires is a city that deserves a few extra days to explore at a leisurely pace!
