Nestled beneath the majestic Andes Mountains in western Argentina 🇦🇷, Bariloche is a charming town encircled by the stunning glacial waters of Nahuel Huapi Lake. With its crystal-clear, deep blue lake, snow-capped peaks that stretch as far as the eye can see, and lush forest trails, Bariloche truly earns its nickname as the “Switzerland of South America.” It was undoubtedly the highlight of my Patagonia adventure.

Day 1: Exploring Llao Llao Hotel 🏨
A visit to Bariloche wouldn’t be complete without a stop at the iconic Llao Llao Hotel. Built in 1939, this historic hotel perches on a small hill on the Llao Llao Peninsula, surrounded by the serene beauty of lakes, mountains, and forests. The views from the hotel are simply breathtaking. Constructed entirely of wood, the Llao Llao offers high-end dining, a golf course, an outdoor heated pool, and a luxurious spa.

Embracing the spirit of “since we’re here,” I decided to treat myself to a lake-view suite in the Moreno Lake wing [crying emoji]. On the day of check-in, a gentle rain added a touch of magic to the experience. The hotel’s thoughtful welcome included chocolate and champagne. As I sipped the bubbly and soaked in the bathtub, gazing out at the misty Moreno Lake, all the weariness from my travels melted away [sly smile emoji].

Dinner was a delightful affair within the hotel. Llao Llao boasts two exquisite restaurants and four bars, each with its own unique ambiance. At the Argentine restaurant, I was thrilled to discover a pistachio-infused version of chorizo [wow emoji]. The crushed pistachios gave the chorizo a rich, nutty texture, making it the best I’ve ever tasted ☝️
