On our first day in Iguazu, after settling in, we stumbled upon a charming local Chinese restaurant that caught our attention. The place exudes the classic ambiance of a traditional overseas Chinese eatery. The owner, originally from Guangdong, has adorned the restaurant with nostalgic decorations that transport you back to China in the last century.

A plaque inscribed with the wise saying “Harmony at home brings prosperity to all things” greets you, while a God of Wealth and a money tree stand as symbols of good fortune. By the cash register, you’ll find familiar treats like Want Want rice crackers and jellies, evoking a sense of childhood nostalgia.

Our group of five was eager to try a variety of dishes, so we ordered quite a spread. We indulged in five main dishes, one soup, a hearty main course, and three refreshing cups of bubble tea. The owner, ever attentive, kept assuring us that our order was more than enough. As it turned out, the portions were indeed generous, and we found ourselves laughing as we realized we couldn’t finish everything!

The white-cut chicken was a standout, perfectly cooked, fragrant, and tender, best enjoyed piping hot. The squid in sauce was equally delightful, with precise knife work that showcased the chef’s expertise. The tilapia, served with a side of fish-flavored shredded pork, added a humorous touch to our meal, making us chuckle.

For those who prefer a simpler dining experience, the restaurant also offers set meals by weight, featuring dishes like braised pig ears and red-braised pork, which looked incredibly appetizing. Don’t miss out on the sesame balls for dessert; they are a true delight, filled with a sweet and authentic bean paste that will satisfy any sweet tooth.
