Before departure, I scoured the travel guides on Xiaohongshu, and it only made me more anxious 🤯. The sheer volume and variety of information left me wanting to explore every corner, yet unsure of where to start, and terrified of making the wrong choice. After 25 days in South America, I can confidently say it was an incredibly rewarding journey! Some places are so breathtaking that you can only truly appreciate their beauty when you see them with your own eyes.

🏞 Highlights of the Trip
🇧🇷 Brazil: The Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro is a marvel that leaves you in awe! Standing atop the mountain and gazing over the entire city, I felt incredibly small. The passionate samba dance 💃 is so infectious; it’s impossible not to get swept up in the rhythm!
🇦🇷 Argentina: The tango performances on the streets of Buenos Aires are a mesmerizing blend of elegance and sensuality! The grandeur of Iguazu Falls left me speechless, and I couldn’t help but shout “amazing” at the top of my lungs!
🇵🇪 Peru: The enigmatic ruins of Machu Picchu transported me back to the Inca era.
The old town of Cusco is brimming with charm, and every stone seems to whisper tales from the past.
🇨🇱 Chile: The starry sky in the Atacama Desert 🌌 is a sight to behold, the most stunning night sky I’ve ever seen in my life!
🇺🇾 Uruguay: The ancient city of Colonia exudes a quaint, European small-town vibe, perfect for a peaceful retreat.
The modernity of Montevideo provides a striking contrast to the historic old town.
🇧🇴 Bolivia: This was a place I had high hopes for, and it did not disappoint. The beauty was so overwhelming that I was left speechless.
🍽 The food in South America was a delightful experience 😋! From Brazilian barbecue 🥩 and Argentine steak 🥩 to Peruvian ceviche 🐟 and Chilean seafood 🦞, each dish was a culinary adventure. The seafood stew I had in Brazil, cooked with palm oil and coconut milk, was an absolute revelation!
⚠ When in Cusco, due to the high altitude, I initially experienced some altitude sickness, with a headache that lasted the whole day. So, if you’re heading to high-altitude areas, be sure to prepare in advance and take necessary rest.
🏨 The accommodation experiences were generally excellent, mostly staying in local characteristic hotels or homestays, all of which were clean and comfortable. The estate hotel I stayed at in Argentina had a strong historical feel, making me feel like royalty, hahaha.
💰 The total cost was indeed on the higher side, but when you factor in the flights, accommodation, and personal safety, it was a worthwhile investment. The trip was incredibly comfortable, with minimal worries—honestly, a huge relief! Given the long journey to South America and the need for both safety and comfort, this decision was absolutely the right one [kissR]

While there were a few minor hiccups along the way, the overall experience was incredibly rewarding! South America is a destination that deserves to be explored again and again.
