I spent eight days in Buenos Aires, the vibrant capital of Argentina, and based on my extensive travel experience, I’ve crafted a four-day itinerary for you (those with limited time can compress it into three days). I highly recommend liking and saving this guide, and simply follow along! This note focuses on the itinerary; stay tuned for more detailed notes about specific attractions, as well as recommendations and warnings for restaurants and cafes.

Day 1️⃣ (It’s best if this day is a Sunday because the market is only open on weekends)
Begin your adventure at the bustling San Telmo market, a treasure trove of local flavors, art, and unique crafts. As you wander through the stalls, you’ll find everything from delicious street food to antique treasures.

If you need a break, take a seat and enjoy the lively performances by talented street artists.
In the afternoon, head over to the nearby Modern Art Museum, Museo Moderno, for a dose of contemporary culture.
Cap off your evening with a visit to Bar Sur, where you can savor a delicious dinner and be mesmerized by a captivating tango performance.

Day 2️⃣
Start your day with a visit to the National Museum of Fine Arts, Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, which is both free and one of my personal favorites. The museum houses an impressive collection of Argentine and international art.
After exploring the museum, stroll over to the iconic steel flower sculpture, Floralis Genérica, set in a charming park where you can relax on the lush lawns.

In the afternoon, make your way to the historic Recoleta Cemetery, Cementerio de la Recoleta. For a more enriching experience, book a two-hour guided tour online, which will bring the stories of the cemetery’s illustrious residents to life.

Day 3️⃣
Kick off your morning at Plaza de Mayo, the heart of Buenos Aires. Admire the pink presidential palace, Casa Rosada, and the majestic Buenos Aires Metropolitan Cathedral just across the square.
From there, take a leisurely 15-minute walk to the iconic Obelisk, Obelisco, passing by the famous Cafe Tortoni, where you can indulge in a delightful brunch.

In the afternoon, explore the stunning Teatro Colón, one of the world’s most beautiful opera houses.
As the sun begins to set, head to Palacio Barolo to witness the breathtaking sunset views that are truly unforgettable.

Day 4️⃣
Begin your final day in the colorful neighborhood of La Boca. Use a map to navigate to Caminito, where you’ll be greeted by a kaleidoscope of vibrant houses, making it the perfect spot for memorable photos.
In the afternoon, lose yourself in the enchanting El Ateneo Grand Splendid, one of the world’s most beautiful bookstores. If you have extra time, visit the MALBA museum, or opt for a serene escape at the Carlos Thays Botanical Garden or the tranquil Japanese Garden.
