What’s the Average Cost of Airfare for a Trip to Argentina in 2023?

If you were to drill a hole from China through the center of the Earth, you’d emerge in Argentina. To help her family, Summer researched the best flight options from Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong, with stopovers primarily in Frankfurt, Paris, and Amsterdam.

Departing from Beijing:
– The most budget-friendly option: Beijing – Istanbul, Turkey – São Paulo, Brazil – Buenos Aires (BA).
Despite the 32-hour journey with two transfers, the consistent price of around 10,000 RMB makes it a solid choice during peak travel seasons.
– The best overall: Lufthansa’s Beijing – Frankfurt – BA, taking 30 hours and 40 minutes.

Although it adds 2 more hours to your trip, the round-trip cost of 11,500 RMB is 3,500 RMB cheaper than the fastest option, making it a great balance between time and cost.

Departing from Shanghai:
– Best value for money:
Shanghai – Zurich, Switzerland – São Paulo, Brazil – BA
This route, though tiring, often offers the lowest ticket prices, with the lowest round-trip all-inclusive fare at 11,300 RMB.
During peak travel seasons, when the Shanghai – Amsterdam – BA option can skyrocket to nearly 20,000 RMB, this high-value route becomes an excellent alternative.

– Shortest duration:
Shanghai – Dallas – BA
This American Airlines route takes just 27 hours and 20 minutes, making it the quickest among all options.
However, it requires a US visa, and the ticket price can easily exceed 20,000 RMB, which may be a significant drawback.
– Best overall:
Shanghai – Amsterdam, Netherlands – BA
This route takes 29 hours and 15 minutes, only 2 hours longer than the American Airlines route.

But its ticket price is much lower, often finding round-trip fares at 13,000 RMB, making it a more practical choice.

Flights from Guangzhou require two stopovers:
– The cheapest option is Guangzhou – Istanbul – São Paulo – BA, with prices stable around 10,000 RMB, except during peak periods. The total flight time is 34 hours, making it the most economical domestic flight to Argentina.
– Qatar Airways’ Chengdu – Doha – São Paulo – BA route takes 31 and a half hours, with a round-trip cost of 14,500 RMB, offering another competitive option.
