Why I’m Not Eating Steak After My Trip to Argentina 🇦🇷🥩

Because nothing tastes quite as good anymore 🥲, I spent two weeks in Argentina at the end of December and indulged in no fewer than 8️⃣ steak meals. My taste buds are still recovering from the feast!

This time in Buenos Aires, I dined at some of the city’s most renowned steakhouses. First up was [Don Julio], which is hailed as the world’s number 1️⃣ steakhouse. I also visited [Fogón Asado], a top-50 global gem, [Elena], ranked 40th in Latin America, and my personal favorite, the hidden treasure [Fervor].

Many people argue that Don Julio is overhyped or a tourist trap, but I found it to be worth every bite. The experience can be hit or miss, depending on where you’re seated—indoor seating definitely enhances the ambiance. Knowing what to order is key: go for the slow-cooked, larger cuts. I highly recommend the T-bone. It may take a bit longer, but the wait is absolutely worth it. I wholeheartedly agree that their steaks are the best in the world [smacking lips R].

Fogón Asado is like an omakase experience in the steak world. The young, creative team offers a unique twist. Their short rib asado, infused with a touch of Japanese mirin, melts in your mouth and creates a delightful fusion. While it’s a fantastic experience, I might still have a slight preference for the others.

Elena, located on the first floor of the Four Seasons Hotel, is the perfect setting for a business dinner. The ambiance is impeccable, and their steaks boast a unique, smoky wood aroma that stood out among all the steakhouses I tried this time 🌟.

Fervor was our first meal after landing in Argentina and, hands down, my favorite. Their steaks, perfectly charred, have a flavor that lingers longingly in your memory. The clientele is mainly local, giving the place a subtle, down-to-earth vibe. The elderly man at the next table even dined solo and asked us if the food was good 🥰. If you get the chance, Fervor is a must-try [sly smile R].
