Australia’s Most Scenic: Sydney’s Super Easy Coastal Walk for All Ages
If you’re a hiking enthusiast but find Bondi and Coogee too crowded, I highly recommend the serene Malabar-Maroubra coastal hiking trail. This hidden gem offers a more tranquil and less congested experience.

The trail begins with about 10 minutes on a gravel path, but the majority of the hike is along a well-constructed boardwalk, making it an easy and enjoyable stroll. As you walk, you can savor the refreshing sea breeze, and if you need a break, there are plenty of rocky outcrops where you can sit and soak in the stunning views. The trail is known for its excellent vantage points for whale watching and spotting playful sea lions.

To start your adventure, you can either head to the Boat Ramp Car Park (the starting point at Malabar) or begin at Maroubra and follow the Maroubra to Malabar Coastal Walk.

Be prepared for a bit of a rustic entrance [laughing and crying emoji]. It’s located at the very end of the Malabar parking lot, as shown in the last picture.

The entire route stretches 3 kilometers and, with a few stops to admire the scenery, should take you less than 2 hours. There are a few steps along the way, and the trail is mostly exposed, so don’t forget to apply sunscreen!

****Update***
Please note that the Malabar entrance may be closed due to events, so it’s a good idea to check the NSW National Parks website beforehand. The Maroubra entrance, however, is open year-round and is a great alternative starting point for your hike.
