This time in Australia, I booked a mix of hotels and homestays, and each one left a lasting impression. However, the homestay in Hobart truly stood out as my favorite.

Nestled in the charming neighborhood of Battery Point, this private homestay felt like a hidden gem. Arriving after dark, I was greeted by a warm, handwritten note from the host, Ash, waiting at the entrance. With the key in hand, I pushed open the door and was immediately enveloped by the beauty of the house. The carefully curated furniture, the thoughtful home decorations, the subtle fragrances, and the soft jazz music playing in the background—everything about it felt like a dream come true.

Stepping into the bedroom, the vintage charm and the gentle aroma of essential oils created a serene atmosphere. As we opened the window, the view outside was nothing short of an oil painting come to life. Boats bobbed gently on the water, and the twinkling lights of houses dotted the small hill across the bay. We read the heartfelt letter from the host couple, welcoming us to their home in Tasmania, a place they lovingly referred to as “another home away from home.”

The next morning, as I drew back the curtains, the golden rays of the sun bathed the room in a warm, comforting light. The garden outside, with its lush greenery and vibrant flowers, was the perfect spot for a morning cup of coffee or a leisurely read.

Let me share more about the house. The kitchen is a 24-hour self-service haven, with a refrigerator always stocked with fresh yogurt, milk, and juice. The cabinets are filled with oatmeal, toast, and cookies, all thoughtfully replenished without you even noticing. The dining area, with its large windows offering a stunning view, was a delightful place to start the day, savoring a delicious breakfast while basking in the morning sun.

Situated in a prestigious area, the homestay is surrounded by unique and picturesque homes. A short walk takes you to the famous colorful houses and the scenic seaside. The neighborhood is also home to a variety of renowned restaurants, cozy bakeries, and charming gift shops.

If you’re driving, there’s convenient parking right in front of the homestay, making it easy to explore Hobart and beyond. After two enchanting days, we set off for Bruny Island, and as we left, we had the pleasure of meeting Ash, who was as friendly and welcoming as his home.
