Discover Hobart’s Unique Cuisine: A Food Lover’s Paradise
Oysters 🦪 are simply the best 🥇

Initially, I was a bit concerned that my Chinese palate might not adapt well to Western cuisine, fearing I’d be left hungry for three days. But those worries were completely unfounded!

Here’s a rundown of the fantastic eateries I discovered and heard about from locals during my stay:
P1 Tasmanian Gourmet Seafoods offered a delightful experience at 55AUD, with a half-dozen oysters for just 16AUD. This is a great deal! I stopped by before heading back to Sydney, and my day tour driver kindly dropped me off.

After savoring the meal, I strolled to the airport, which took about 30 minutes—a perfect way to digest.
P2 Get Shucked provided a dozen oysters for 29AUD, making it an excellent choice for oyster lovers.
P3 A stall in Salamanca Market sold half a dozen large, succulent oysters for 18AUD. The size and flavor were impressive.

P4P5 I picked up some delicious, exclusive Tasmanian popcorn from the market. Before leaving, I stocked up at Woolworths, where the prices were very reasonable: small bags for 5.9AUD and large ones for 9.9AUD. Souvenirs were a bit pricier, but still worth it.
The local beef jerky, priced at 10AUD, was another standout.

I opted for the spiciest variety, which was initially quite salty but became increasingly addictive. Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to buy more packs to bring back to Sydney 😢
P6P7 Both located near the wharf, these gelato shops serve incredibly creamy and rich treats, with each scoop costing 5AUD.

Flippers’ fish and chips, while nothing extraordinary, were decent at 17.5AUD.
P8 Taste of Malaysia Hobart, highly rated on Google Maps, offered generous portions at 18.9AUD. Though the taste was average, I enjoyed the variety of seafood options. I would have preferred it spicier, but it was still a satisfying meal.

P9 Jackman & McRoss, recommended by my day tour driver, was a delightful find. The scallop pie was absolutely amazing at 10.5AUD each. The figs and bread, also 10.5AUD and 8.5AUD respectively, were equally delightful.
P10 Hobart Coffee Roasters served a latte for 5.4AUD that hit the spot. The roast level was just right, and the addition of latte art would have made it even more enjoyable.

For exploring more places, Google Maps is a reliable guide. Generally, establishments with ratings above 4 stars are a safe bet, but always check the opening hours, as many close around sunset.
