Taking advantage of the kids’ study tour during the holiday, I decided to whisk my parents away on a self-driving adventure to Western Australia. After a 5-hour flight, we touched down in Perth and embarked on a half-day city drive with our rented Suzuki small 4WD.

🏢 **University of Western Australia**: This campus is not only one of the most beautiful in Australia but also part of the prestigious Group of Eight. Its unique sandstone architecture and lush gardens make for a picturesque stroll. You might even catch a glimpse of peacocks strutting around, adding to the enchanting atmosphere.

⛴️ **Elizabeth Quay**: A must-visit spot, Elizabeth Quay is home to the iconic Bell Tower. The riverside path and arched pedestrian bridge offer a delightful walking experience. However, parking fees for self-driving visitors are quite steep compared to our hometown, so it’s advisable to take the free CAT bus in Perth.

🏞️ **Kings Park**: This expansive park offers breathtaking panoramic views of Perth’s city skyline and the Swan River. The State War Memorial is a poignant and scenic viewpoint. The botanical garden’s most famous feature is a giant baobab tree, which is truly a sight to behold. Unfortunately, the treetop walkway, Lotterywest Federation Walkway, is currently closed, but the rest of the park still has plenty to offer.

🚨 **Safety Tip**: Be cautious about leaving visible luggage in your car near the Blue Boat House, as there have been incidents of car break-ins in the past.
