Experience Stunning Sunrise Views: Hot Air Balloon Ride Over Melbourne
When I was in Melbourne, a friend suggested trying a hot air balloon ride. We had to be at the designated meeting point by 5:30 AM, eagerly awaiting the pick-up. As the car arrived, it towed the hot air balloon on a trailer, adding to our excitement. There were about eight of us in the car, all buzzing with anticipation.

After a 20-minute drive, we arrived at an open field on the outskirts of Melbourne. Stepping out of the car, we dove right into the preparation and ignition of the hot air balloon. All the tourists got involved, which served as a perfect warm-up in the chilly morning air.

As the hot air balloon lit up, it stood out brilliantly against the dim light of dawn, creating a magical scene. The moment we took off, the balloon ascended to over 1,000 meters, a bit nerve-wracking at first, but as soon as we saw the sunrise above the clouds, all the nervousness melted away. Gradually, we descended, and the hot air balloon drifted towards the city, carried by the gentle wind.

Along the way, we could see various landmarks of Melbourne and the stunning coastline. Finally, we landed in an open area north of the University of Melbourne, where we helped the guide pack up the hot air balloon, marking the end of an unforgettable trip. The entire flight lasted about 60 minutes and is definitely worth trying.

👔 It’s quite cold before dawn, so it’s highly recommended to wear warm, layered clothing.
✈️ The flight altitude is high, so be mentally prepared for the initial thrill.
🎒 The space inside the hot air balloon basket is limited, so it’s best to travel light and avoid bringing too many items.
📷 Using a phone for taking photos at high altitudes is more practical, as there’s no need to change lenses.

Handling a camera can be somewhat risky, so I held my phone tightly throughout the flight, always cautious not to drop it.
