• The vibrant main street facing the iconic “Busan is Good” sign (Figure 4)
This main thoroughfare is perfectly safe, lined with popular spots like Olive Young, Gong Cha, Paris Baguette, and cozy cafes. But here’s the catch:

The parallel street behind (Figure 5), packed with neon-lit 🍺 bars, is the heart of the red-light district.
If you accidentally wander in, stay calm—simply retrace your steps to the main road. Remember: vigilance is your best travel companion!
Our personal encounter with Busan’s red-light district:
My friend and I (both female travelers) were following a trending food guide (Figure 6) to a recommended BBQ joint. Turning into an alley near Paris Baguette, we were initially focused on finding the restaurant when the atmosphere suddenly shifted.
The narrow lane was packed with bars, and despite the chilly weather, scantily clad women stood outside each establishment. As we spotted adult shops further down, our instincts kicked in—we immediately turned back to the safety of the main street.
Pro tip: Always research your route beforehand and trust your gut when something feels off. Busan is an amazing city, but like any major destination, it pays to be street-smart!
