Follow the blogger’s route without backtracking; a round trip in one day is entirely feasible:
Depart from Santiago, primarily from two bus stations. When purchasing tickets, be sure to check whether it’s from Pajaritos station or Alameda station. The most budget-friendly ticket is 2500 pesos.
Buy a ticket to Viña del Mar bus station, then take a leisurely walk to the P3 Francisco Fonck Museum of Archaeology and History.
Here, you can marvel at a Moai statue, the only one found outside of Easter Island, and snap some memorable photos.
Next, continue your stroll to what is often hailed as the most beautiful beach in Chile.
P4-P8 Acapulco Beach features a picturesque bridge extending into the sea, making for a delightful autumn walk under the warm sun.
From there, head to the Miramar railway station and hop on the commuter train to Valparaíso, getting off at the final stop, Puerto. The train ticket costs just 500 pesos, and you can use Mastercard and Visa credit cards directly, eliminating the need for a separate ticket. The coastal train ride also offers breathtaking views.
After exiting the station, turn left and begin your walking exploration of Valparaíso.
Follow this enchanting route: P10 Soto Mayor Square – P11 Escala El Peral (a local characteristic elevator, incredibly steep, and well worth the experience, costing 100 pesos per person) – P14 Colorful Staircase – Cerro Concepción Valparaíso – P15-16 Atkinson Walkway Viewpoint – P17 Piano Staircase – Ascensor Reina Victoria, where you can take the elevator down the hill to complete your tour.
If you are a fan of Pablo Neruda, his former residence, La Sebastiana Museum, is a must-see. However, the area is not very safe, and there is an admission fee, so I decided to skip it.
After descending the hill, make your way directly to the Valparaíso terminal to buy a bus ticket back to Santiago. The walk is about 1.
8 km, allowing you to soak in the charming atmosphere of this small town. The return ticket might be a bit pricier, possibly due to on-site purchases?
