Tepuhueico Park is a captivating primeval forest, and today we’ll dive into the details of the bus route for the forest line (Zona Bosque).
⚠️ Be prepared: the bus journey can be quite tiring, and the scenery, while pleasant, is not spectacular. Spotting pudus, the tiny deer, is also a rare treat. The entire trek takes about 7 hours.

🎫 Ticket Purchase: Secure your tickets at the BUSES OJEDA window at the Castro bus terminal (Terminal Municipal Castro). You can also pay in cash directly on the bus. A one-way ticket costs 2000 pesos, and it will specify “zona bosque.”
👟 Route:
– 8:30-9:20: Depart from Castro towards Huillinco. Get off at the Cruce para parque tepuhueico, which is the intersection.

– 1 hour 40 minutes: Hike 7 km to the ticket office.
– 15 minutes: Explore the first short hiking trail, which offers a glimpse of the primeval forest, though it’s not the most exciting part.
– 40 minutes: Reach the second WiFi symbol. After a long walk on the road, you’ll finally re-enter the forest.

– 30-40 minutes: Complete the second yellow trail.
– 40 minutes: Conquer the red trail.
– 30 minutes: Round trip for the white trail. This section is less interesting, but if you catch a glimpse of the waterfall, it’s worth a 10-minute round trip.
– 30 minutes: Tackle the blue trail.
– 45 minutes: Finish the pink trail.

– 15 minutes: Walk on the road to reach the toilet.
– 1.5 hours: Hike back to the intersection to wait for the bus.

Note: To stay comfortable, wear long sleeves and long pants, and don’t forget to bring insect repellent.
