If you’re unsure about what to do in Santiago, I highly recommend a visit to Valparaíso. It’s just a short trip away, and there are plenty of bus services available.

🚌 At Santiago’s Central Station, numerous bus companies operate this route with frequent departures. It’s best to book your round-trip tickets in advance for a hassle-free experience. In my opinion, a 5-hour visit is perfect for exploring the city!

🎨 Valparaíso is a vibrant city adorned with graffiti, reminiscent of Medellín’s Comuna 13 in Colombia, but with an even more extensive and dynamic street art scene. Homeowners regularly update the graffiti, often hiring specialized artisans to create stunning murals. Allow around 3 hours to fully explore and appreciate the artistic landscape. My rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟—check out photos on pages 2-10.

🏠 The Naval Museum 🌟🌟🌟 is also worth a quick stop. The entrance fee is affordable, and it offers a fascinating glimpse into the maritime history of the region. See photos on pages 11-12.

🔚 As soon as you arrive in the heart of Valparaíso, you’ll find a bustling farmers’ market. It’s much more enjoyable to browse than the markets in Santiago, and the fruits are significantly cheaper! For example, cherries can be found for less than 10 yuan per kilogram. Since you’re there, make sure to take some time to explore and perhaps pick up some fresh produce!
