The San Pedro de Atacama Desert is far more delightful and inviting than one might expect. The main street at night and the natural landscapes are truly captivating. However, due to the high altitude, it’s essential to be cautious with sun protection.

Day 1: Santiago – Calama – San Pedro de Atacama
Upon arriving in Calama, we hopped on a bus to San Pedro de Atacama. After settling into our hotel, we took a leisurely stroll down the main street. It’s wise to carry plenty of cash; paying in cash for tours here can often be more economical. As soon as I stepped onto Caracoles, I was enchanted by this street – the whitewashed alleys, the lively music, and the charming, vibrant town under the starlit sky.

Day 2: Geyser del Tatio – Valle de la Luna – Astronomical Tour
In the early morning, we ventured to the geysers, where the cold air was invigorating. Along the way, we spotted flamingos and llamas, adding to the surreal beauty. In the afternoon, the sunset at the Moon Valley was breathtaking, with the distant mountains and sky painted in a soft, golden-pink hue. At night, the starry sky was a mesmerizing spectacle, enveloping us in a celestial wonderland.

Day 3: Piedras Rojas
Our journey was a blend of high mountain meadows and salt lakes, creating a landscape that felt pure and untouched. It was easy to lose oneself in the serene beauty. We encountered flamingos and llamas, which were especially endearing, adding a touch of charm to the already enchanting scenery.
