Concón is a charming seaside town nestled in the central Valparaíso Region of Chile, just north of the bustling Viña del Mar. The two towns are connected by a picturesque coastal resort area, making it an easy and delightful getaway.
This enchanting destination is renowned for its unique and breathtaking landscape, where golden sand dunes seamlessly blend into the azure ocean. A mere 30-minute bus ride from Viña del Mar, Concón offers a more fashionable and less crowded alternative to the typical tourist hotspots. However, it’s worth noting that many of the scenic spots are privately owned, limiting access to some areas.
During my visit, I had a long and engaging conversation with a local guardian at the harbor. Despite his friendly demeanor, he remained steadfast in his duty and did not allow me to enter the barge area. Instead, he kindly recommended a nearby viewpoint, which turned out to be absolutely stunning.
As you stroll along the coastline, you’ll be greeted by a variety of water birds, including majestic pelicans and playful sea lions. The extensive shoreline provides ample opportunities to find a peaceful spot to relax, listen to the soothing sound of the waves, and watch as both locals and visitors enjoy the refreshing waters.
