Discover Indonesia’s Padar Island: A Surreal Paradise Like No Other Game World
The highlight of our Indonesian adventure was undoubtedly Komodo, and Padar Island stood out as my ultimate dream destination. Despite its popularity, the moment I reached the island’s peak and gazed down at the breathtaking panorama, I felt as if I had stepped into a vivid, otherworldly realm.
🏝 The island boasts several bays, each featuring unique black and pink sand beaches, all accessible only by boat.
📍 Location: Padar Island, Komodo.
🛥️ Getting There: Access is limited to chartering a boat or joining a day tour; independent travel is not feasible.
📸 Photography Tips:
1. Aerial photography is generally prohibited, with clear signs at the ticket office.
However, for around 500 RMB, you can arrange permission in advance through your tour group or directly at the ticket office.
2. The ascent to the summit takes about 20 minutes, and the trail can be quite steep, especially towards the end. Along the way, there are multiple photo platforms, and friendly staff are on hand to help capture the perfect shot.
It’s clear that popular spots in Indonesia have well-established procedures.
3. Typically, the day tour captain will allocate 90 minutes for photography, including 20 minutes to climb up and 10 minutes to descend, leaving you with just one hour. Expect queues at each scenic spot, as seen in the final picture.
4. The hilltop is monitored by staff who caution against venturing further, citing safety concerns. However, the view from the top would undoubtedly be even more spectacular.

👒 What to Pack:
Bring at least two sets of clothes, plus an outfit for snorkeling or swimming. Don’t forget a towel, hiking shoes, and flip-flops. Sunglasses and sun-protective clothing are essential, along with motion sickness medication, as the speedboat ride can be choppy.
✈️ Travel Logistics: Most travelers fly to Komodo from Bali, with flights also available from Jakarta. Be prepared for potential delays, as 80% of flights tend to be late for unspecified reasons. Flights from Bali to Komodo usually depart in the afternoon, with return flights also in the afternoon. Plan to stay in Komodo for three days, dedicating one day to island hopping and the remaining time for relaxation or half-day excursions.
