Discover Komodo Island: The Ultimate Paradise Beyond Bali’s Beauty

Originally, I just wanted to worship the divine lizard, the Komodo dragon, but ended up with a lot of surprises on Komodo Island. It’s definitely one of the best islands I’ve ever visited. I strongly recommend a liveaboard trip to fully immerse yourself in this stunning paradise.

[Sun R] Day 1
In the morning, we flew from Bali airport to Labuan Bajo airport, where we were picked up and boarded the boat [Polaroid R] P4, which was incredibly smooth. We chose an Indonesian-style wooden boat, with air conditioning in the room, clean and tidy, except for a slightly hard bed. For those who have trouble sleeping, it’s recommended to bring noise-canceling earplugs as the engine noise might affect your rest.

In the afternoon, we arrived at Kelor Island, where it only takes 10 minutes to reach the top of the hill and overlook the entire island [Polaroid R] P5. Local youths were smoking and playing in the water [Polaroid R] P6, very relaxed.

We went snorkeling near Manjarite Island, where the underwater world was breathtakingly beautiful. The red-shelled sea turtles were not afraid of people at all, making close-up shots [Polaroid R] P7 (with a waterproof phone case) possible.

In the evening, the boat passed through the mangrove area (Kalong Island). As the sun set, thousands of flying foxes emerged from the trees, covering the sky, creating a dreamlike scene [Polaroid R] P8.

[Sun R] Day 2
One hour before sunrise, we set off for Padar Island [Polaroid R] P10-11. A 15-20 minute hike led us to the viewpoint [Polaroid R] P1,2,9, where we could see the unique three-colored beach. Human habitation is prohibited on the island, but there are cute wild deer [Polaroid R] P3 that come to the beach to forage.

We then headed to the pink beach [Polaroid R] P12, with its azure waters, rosy sand, and lush green hills. If you hadn’t seen it with your own eyes, it would be hard to believe such a landscape exists in the real world.
[Polaroid R] P13, the bright red coral debris scattered on the beach explains the origin of the sand color. Note that corals are protected, and collecting them is strictly forbidden.

In the afternoon, we finally arrived at Komodo Island itself! Upon landing, we first encountered some bold wild deer [Polaroid R] P14, energetically feeding.
Then, under the guidance of a tour guide, we visited the Komodo National Park.

Finally, we saw the world’s largest lizard 🦎, the living dragon 🐲, the Komodo dragon!!! [Polaroid R] P15. Because it was during the mating season in May (which I actually planned [Observing R]), the male dragons, driven by hormones, were particularly aggressive. We were lucky enough to witness a rare moment of two lizards fighting over territory [Polaroid R] P16, which made the trip worth every penny!

[Sun R] Day 3
In the morning, we set out for an unforgettable snorkeling adventure near the enchanting Kanawa Island [Polaroid R] P17. The crystal-clear, shallow waters were a dream come true, making it easy to capture stunning underwater photos with just our smartphones [Polaroid R] P18!

By noon, we made our way back to Labuan Bajo port, feeling a mix of satisfaction and a tinge of sadness as we reluctantly concluded our incredible journey [Crying R]
